At the end of October, three of us from WebSell were in Paris for Directions EMEA 2026, the Microsoft Dynamics partner conference. We didn’t have a booth this time. Our goal was simple: catch up with our existing partners, make some new connections, and find out what’s coming for the retailers we work with on Dynamics 365 Business Central.
Two themes kept coming up in the sessions and in the conversations in between: AI built into the ERP, and the strength of the partner network around it. Both matter to retailers, and both are shaping where we take WebSell in 2027.
An AI copilot in the ERP is becoming a must-have
If there was one takeaway on the product side, it’s that having an AI copilot built into the ERP is going to be a key feature for retailers. Our view is simple: any POS or ERP without an in-built AI component is in danger of getting left behind.
Think about the jobs that eat into a retailer’s week:
- Product descriptions. Writing a good description for every product is slow, especially when the catalogue runs to hundreds or thousands of lines. What if the ERP could draft them for you?
- Quick reports. Which products are selling, and which aren’t? Today that often means building a report or asking someone else to. With a copilot, it can be a question you type.
- Sale prices. Setting up a promotion across a range of products takes time. With a few prompts, it could take minutes.
How much time would that save? It will be different for every retailer, but the direction is clear: less time on admin, more time on buying, merchandising and customers.
It also makes a difference when your webstore is connected to your ERP. Descriptions, prices and promotions created in the ERP can flow through to your online shop, so the time you save in the back office carries straight through to the front.
It takes a village: why partners matter
The second theme was partnerships. WebSell is part of the Volaris Group ecosystem, and we see the value of that every day. The partner network around Dynamics 365 Business Central works the same way. It’s important, and it’s essential, because it takes a village to get businesses running the way they should.
Our partner POS-ONE gave a talk on exactly this: the importance of keeping your partner ecosystem alive, no matter what level your partners are at. We agree. A retailer needs an ERP, a POS, a webstore and plenty more besides, and no single vendor covers all of it. The better the partners work together, the fewer gaps there are between systems for the retailer to deal with.
It was great to reconnect with existing partners and to meet potential new ones. We came away with a clearer idea of who can deliver the features our customers need.
What’s next for WebSell
We’ll keep developing our feature set for Dynamics 365 Business Central ecommerce, and we’ll keep growing our partnerships in key territories to expand our network of retailers.
AI promises to change how POS and ERP systems connect to websites. We’ll be watching it closely, and we’ll be there when our retailers are ready.
